RelevantNoise Says Vice-Pres Candidates Gain Blog Support

By Arvind Arora, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Zeta Interactive, a digital marketing agency, has announced that deploying its RelevantNoise Technology, the company has mined the Internet's social media landscape to track public opinion on presidential campaigns going on in the U.S.

The technology has shown that both VP candidates, namely Republican Governor Sarah Palin and Democratic Senator Joe Biden, have gained blogosphere buzz from their debate, as posts on both of them have been found out to be more positive upon the Internet.

Bloggers and social media enthusiasts across the Internet have found that each candidate benefited from their appearance at the 2008 Vice Presidential debate, although political pundits still comment on who the clear winner was at the event.

RelevantNoise is Zeta Interactive's technology that mines the Internet's social media landscape, including more than 100 million blogs, as well as countless message boards and online communities.

The technology helped Zeta find out that the reaction to the debate that took place on Thursday night was positive when compared to the weeks preceding the debate. Zeta also says that Governor Palin received the greatest amount of buzz, or volume of posts being generated on the Internet, increasing from just under 2,800 posts the day before the debate to nearly 6,000 the day following.

In terms of positive reaction from the debate, Biden received a 20 percent increase in positive buzz, from 50 percent to 70 percent, following the debate and was the winner.

RelevantNoise is a Web-based, user-driven social media mining tool that provides real-time feedback and insight on the consumer trends and opinions that help drive their behaviors by tapping into over 100 million blogs, message boards and online communities within the Internet's social media landscape.

The technology is being used by various organizations to collect vital business and competitive intelligence to help drive decisions regarding their brands and products.

Al DiGuido, CEO of Zeta Interactive, said that the advantage of the company's RelevantNoise technology is its ability to analyze an event like the vice presidential debate by effectively reporting on how the online community reacted to the VP candidates before and after the debate.

DiGuido noted that by mining through millions of blogs and online media sites Zeta is able to keep its finger on the true pulse of the voting public.
